hdr

So theBalm just came out with this palette, and I do like those all-in-one palettes, so I figured I’d try it out.
Now, I was going to put up this review a lot sooner, but the first one I ordered got lost in the mail, so I had to wait for another one. But, better late than never, right?

Now, first of all I will say that it can be a little bit tricky to get your brush into the pans, because of the shape of the pans, especially if you’re using bigger brushes, but I still haven’t had any issues picking up only one shade, so the space between the pans are big enough, at least for the brushes that I use. I just think that it’s something that may be a drawback for some people.

Now, when it comes to these powders I do find that they’re all more on the subtle side, with the exeption of the blush, that can be very pigmented, so I would be a bit carefull with that.
But the contour shades, the bronzer and the highlighters does all look very subtle and natural on my skintone (they can be buildt up, of course, but right of the bat they’re very subtle), and I do really like that. (I’m a MAC NC15 most of the time, I’m a bit more tan now)
But that means that I’m not so sure that this would work that well for medium to deep skintones, which isn’t a good thing.
However, if you’re fair, light and maybe light/medium, and you like your makeup to be more natural than instagram, I do think that you could enjoy this palette.

hdr

Moving on to the highlighters/brightening powders I have to mention that the shade “64Hz” is very similar to the Mary-Lou Manizer, only a little more subtle, so I don’t think that this shade is unique to this palette.
However, that is the highlighter that lasts on my skin the longest, becuase the pink one does fade away throughout the day, while this one doesn’t. And I wish that they both would’ve lasted all day, but on the other hand I do find that the pink highlighter is the only powder that does fade away to almost nothing, so the rest of them to have a decent longevity to them.
Now, when it comes to the matte highlighters, I do think that these are good for brightening underneath the eyes, but I don’t use them to set my concealer. I use these on top of my setting powder on those days when I’m a bit extra tired, and my undereyes look a bit more grey than normal, and I do find that these, especially the peachy shade, does brighten and brings back a little color/life to my face, so I do think that they’re usable.
However, I do think that this palette would be a bit better if they switched out the matte highlighters for maybe a few different blush shades, or maybe even one more bronzer.
But that’s just my oppinion.

Other than that I find that these powders blend out very easily, and they’re not chalky or patchy on the skin, so I don’t really have anything bad to say about this, other than the fact that I don’t think that this is universal enough in terms of how deep the shades are.
But I don’t think that this palette is anything special, and most of us have powders like these in our collection already, so I don’t think that this is a palette we need.
However, like I mentioned earlier, I do think that this is a good palette for those of us who likes more natural looking makeup, or for beginners.

I got mine from LookFantastic for 290nok.

Product Empties Part 1 2017

hdr

So, I was originally hoping to upload one empties post at the end of the year, but that’s just not happening, because my beauty trash is piling up a lot faster than I expected, so I figured I’d rather do an ‘Empties Post’ every once in a while instead.
And like I do with my favorites posts, I will link to full reviews at the end of the post.

hdr

First up I have the Rituals Magic Touch Body Cream.
Now, this is one of my favorite body creams/lotions because it sinks in very quickly, and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily or gross like a lot of body creams do.
I have also gone through several tubs of this, but it is a little bit more expencive, and I am trying out an other body cream at the moment, but I will definitly re-purchase this if I don’t find a cheaper alternative.

hdr

Next is the Rituals Zensational Foaming Shower Gel. Now, this one I got in a Glossybox, and I do have another one that I got in a set once in my shower, but this is a bit too expencive for me to buy, especially considering that it’s a shower gel, and I also feel like you need quite a bit when you use it, so it won’t really last you that long, which is a bummer.
But I do like it, and I would use it if I got it in a set, or in a subscription box, but I won’t re-purchase it on it’s own.

hdr

And last from Rituals I have the Body Scrub.
Now, this was also part of the set that I got, and this one I did really enjoy using, because it does contain a lot of sugar, but it also feels very hydrating which I appreciate.
I also like sugar scrubs because they dissolve when you rub it on your skin, and that can makes it easier to know when you’re ‘done scrubbing’ (downside to that is that it will dissolve if you aren’t fast enough) in comparison to other scrubs that use seeds or other scrubby things that doesn’t dissolve like sugar does.
However, I do use an other scrub at the moment, so I won’t re-purchase this right now, but I might buy it again in the future.

hdr

Next is the Soap And Glory Flake Away scrub, and this is the one that I’m currently using, and I have gone though several tubs of this in the past.
Now, this is one of those scrubs that doesn’t dissolve like the sugar scrubs does, which means that you can get a better scrub with this, especially if you’re like me and leaves the water on in your shower when you use a scrub, which is why I like this so much.
This is also leaves my skin feeling very hydrated, and I have already re-purchased this.

hdr

Moving on I have the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair hair mask.
Now, this is a sample size that I got in a subssscription box, and I have tried it before, and I did like it a lot when I tried it earlier, but now I just don’t think it did anything unique to my hair.
It did make it feel a little bit softer, but not as soft as other ones that I’ve tried, so I won’t buy a full size of this one.

hdr

Next is the Caviar Anti-Aging Moisture Intense Oil Creme(Pre-Shampoo treatment) This is also a sample that I got in a subscription box, and I did likec it, but I didn’t like it enough to buy it.
Now, this does make my hair a little bit softer, but not so soft that I need to buy it. And I would much rather just use a hair mask, becuase I feel like it does the same thing, the only difference is that this is used on dry hair before you shampoo it, the other is used after.

hdr

This next one on the other hand is amazing! This is the Pantene Pro-V Deep Repair Mask.
Now, I actually think that this is the best hair mask that I’ve tried so far. It makes my hair feel so soft, it looks so shiny and healthy, and it’s inexpencive.
The only issue is that I cannot for the life of me find it anywhere. I find the shampoo and conditioner, but I can’t find this mask, and that makes me very sad, because I really want to re-purchase this.

hdr

Moving on I have the Lee Stafford Dry Shampoo for dark hair.
Now, this is one of the few dry shampoos that I’ve tried that doesn’t make my hair feel crunchy or stiff, like those volumizing dry shampoos does, and that is one of the biggest reasons that I use this one, because I cannot stand the feeling of product in my hair. Like, I need to be able to run my fingers through it, you know?
Now, this does make my hair look a little lesss greasy, and it works if I put my hair up in a ponytail or something, but it’s nothing spectacular.
However, I will keep re-purchasing this until I find something better.

hdr

Next up I have the Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser.
This is like a very mild face scrub, and I do really enjoy using this in the morning, because it does help me keep my skin feeling smooth, and it does also feel like it wakes me up a little, so I do really like this and I will keep re-purchasing it.

hdr

Next I have the Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser.
I have gone through several tubes of this cleanser, and I have another one that I’m almost out of, but I have been using this for so long that I’m not sure if I’m gonna re-purchase this right away, or if I want to try something else next time.
But it is a good cleanser, and it doesn’t dry out my skin.

hdr

Moving on I have the Lancome Tonique Confort. This is a hydrating toner, and I really like this.
It doesn’t dry out my skin, but it does remove any residue/dirt that my cleanser didn’t get, and it’s very gentle on the skin.
However, I do try to only get it when I can get the 400ml bottles, because the 200ml is the exact same price, so I don’t think I’ll buy that, but I will continue to re-purchase the 400ml bottle.

hdr

Next I have the Origins Clear Improvment Mask.
Now, I was never really impressed with this, and it’s not completly empty either, but it’s old and for some reason it did start to irritate my skin a little bit, so I’m just gonna throw it out.
And sbecause of that I will not re-purchase this one.

hdr

This next product is the REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollutin Mist.
Now I got this sample size from a subscription bow, and I did like the way it felt cooling on my skin when I used it, but so does any other face mist, so I didn’t find this to be anything unique.
Because of that I don’t think I’ll buy this, because I’d rather reach for my Smashbox Primer Water if I feel like using a facemist throughout the day.

hdr

This is another sampel I got in a subscription box, and it’s the Oskia Renaissance Mask.
Now, this is supposed to be a brightening mask, and I do actually feel like it did brighten my skin, so I did enjoy using it.
However, this is very expencive, and I believe that it was only good for 3months after opening, which in my oppinion isn’t nearly long enough, and I don’t want to re-purchase it because I’ll only be able to use half of it before I have to throw it out.

hdr

Next I have the Lancome Energie De Vie Liquid Care.
I use this as a serum in the morning before my moisturizer, and I really like it.
It gives me a nice, healthy glow, and an extra boost of hydration but it’s not too much, so it doesn’t make me greasy or anything like that.
And I do have another one that I use, so I have already re-purchased this.

hdr

Next is another sample, and this is the Balance Me Congested Skin Serum.
Now, I didn’t really find that this did anything for my skin, I just wanted to finish it, really.
It might be different if I had the full size, but I don’t think I’ll buy that.

hdr

Moving on I have the Clinique All About Eyes Rich eyecream.
I’ve been using this for a long time now, and I do really like it. It gives me enough hydration underneath my eyes, and it sinks in to the skin nicely, without leaving a weird film underneath my eyes, so I will keep re-purchasing this.

hdr

So next I have the WEIL For Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief cream.
I have gone through a few tubs of this in the past, and I do feel like it sooths my skin, and it does provide a good amount of hydration for my skin, but it is very expencive, so I just stopped buying it because of that.
I might get it again in the future, but for now I won’t re-purchase.

hdr

These next ones are the In Transit Camera Close-Up. This is supposed to be a mask, primer and moisturiser in one, but I only used them as as day cream.
I don’t really believe in multi-tasking products like this one, but I do feel like it worked OK as a moisturiser, but I don’t think I’ll buy this for myself.

hdr

Next I have the Vichy Liftactive Supreme creme. Now this one, texture wise, reminds me alot of the Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Cream, and I really liked that one, meaning I really liked this one. Also, it’s half the price of the Estee Lauder one, so I might actually get this one when I need a new day cream.

hdr

Now, I’ve mentioned these Origins Night-A-Mins products several times on my blog, so I won’t go in to too much detail, but, like I’m sure you’ve all guessed by now, I do really like both of these, and I always re-purchase them whenever I run out.

hdr

And lastly for skincare I have the Clinique Mineral Sunscreen Fluid For Face.
First of all I do have one more use of this as I’m writing this post, so it’s only almost empty, but I wanted to throw it in here anyway.
Now I’ve had some trouble finding a sunscreen for my face that doesn’t crumble up on my skin, and this doesn’t do that, so I do really like it, but it is ratherexpencive, and it does give a white cast to my face, so I do feel like I have to wear makeup on top of it, so I don’t look sick.
But, I do believe that I will re-purchase this, unless I find something else that I want to try out.

hdr

Moving on I finished the Skindinavia Primer Spray for Oil Control.
So, I do like all of the Skindinavia sprays that I’ve tried, and this is no different, because it does help with my oils, and it does make my skin a little bit ‘sticky’ so my make-up sticks to my face a bit better when I used this. However, I’m a bit torn if I want to re-purchase this or not, because I do think that I’m more curiouse to try something else, but I might re-purchase this again at some point in the future.

hdr

Next I have the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, the original one.
I do have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this, so I don’t think that I will buy the full size of this, but I do have a couple of sample sizes of it in my collection, and I do think that I will re-purchase the travel size someday.

hdr

Next I have the Loreal Brow Artist Plumper.
I love this product so much, I use it all the time, on it’s own or on top of other brow products, and this never fails me.
So I will keep repurchasing this one.

hdr

And last I have the Nivea Lip Butter. Now, I have gone through so many tubs of this lipbalm, I just never remember to keep them for my empties post. But I really like these. I have one upstairs that I use throughout the day, I keep one in my car and I have one on the side of my bed that I use every night before I go to sleep, and I do actually have 3 back ups in my drawer.
So, I will obviously keep buying this.

So, that’s it for my product empties this time. If you made it all the to the end, please let me know in the comments below.

Review | Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Foundation

hdr

This is what it says on the Lancome website:
An oil-free, up to 24-hour long wear foundation that delivers medium-to-full coverage and leaves a natural-looking, velvety matte finish.
For those long days, the full coverage, comfortable long wear you need. Not thick or greasy, this foundation’s innovative long-wear formula gives all skin tones a flawless, complexion-perfecting coverage. Redness, pores and imperfections visibly disappear, evening the skin tone and leaving a mattified yet natural result. Formulated with color-true NAI pigments, it maintains your skin’s pH level so that color stays put all day long— which means retouch-free and transfer-resistant coverage. Plus, it’s infused with perlite and silica, absorbing oil for a shine-free wear.

Research Results:
In an independent consumer study after 1 week:
– 100% thought the product evened their skin tone
– 98% agreed that the color stayed true throughout the day
– 95% thought the product left their skin feeling soft all day
– 93% said the product felt comfortable on their skin all day long
– 93% said the product gave them a natural result
– 91% thought the product felt lightweight on their skin
– 87% said the product gave a perfected, flawless complexion

So, I’ve recently been seeing this foundation all over the internett, and since I recently ran out of one of my foundations I figured I’d give this one a go, and I do like it so far.

Now, this does claim to be a medium-to-full coverage, matte finish foundation, and I do not agree with that at all, to be completly honest. Because , to me, this is a light-to-medium buildable coverage with a natural finish. But I don’t necessarily think that that’s a bad thing either, because I do like a customizable foundation in terms of coverage, especially now that we’re going into the warmer spring and summer months.
And this is very easy to build up, and it doesn’t really get cakey, which I appreciate in any foundation.
However, since this isn’t really a matte foundation on my skin, it does get a bit shiny in my t-zone and it does fade a little on the sides of my nose after around 4hours, and even though it’s easy to touch up, it does kinda look a bit cakey when it fades, but that might as well just be my skin, because it only looks a little cakey on one side of my nose, but it’s still nothing a little powder can’t fix, if you’re like me and keeps a powder with a little bit of coverage in your purse for touchups.
Still, I feel like it is something to keep in mind, especially because of the claims on this foundation.

Now, with that said, this foundation, buildt up or not, does look like skin, and it feels very very lightweight, even after I get oily I still can’t feel the foundation on my skin, which is a good thing. And it does last on my skin all day, it only fades a little in my most oily areas, but it’s still there at the same time, if you know what I mean?
Other than that I do have to mention that the shades run a bit dark, at least the ones that I can get my hands on here, because I have the second or third lightest shade (one of them was straight up pink) and it is a little too dark for me, which is unusual. However, it is only available in 15 shades here (on Kicks), but it is available in 40 shades on the Lancome website, so that may have a lot to do with it.

So, over all I do like this foundation, and I will continue to use it, but I do believe that this would work better for those of you with combination or normal to dry skin, rather than those of you with oily skin. Because I do not think that this holds up to it’s claims, at least not on me. And a little bit of it does come off when I use a blottingpaper on it, so that’s something to think about with this as well.

I got mine from Kicks (Sweden) for 455sek.

Review | NEW Zoeva Matte Spectrum Palette

hdr

This is what it says on the Zoeva website:
Inspired by leaves turning from lush green to fascinating shades of yellow, orange, red and purple, our ZOEVA Matte Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette takes you on a journey through the colorful seasons. Honoring the vibrancy of foliage, the palette reveals nature’s true hues in a vibrant array of highly pigmented and easy to blend matte eyeshadows – for elegant, distinctive and timeless makeup looks.
Finish: Matte
The formulation of the eyeshadows is enriched with vitamin E and is 100% free of parabens, mineral oils, perfume and phthalates. Made in Italy.

Swatches

So, Zoeva just came out with this Matte Spectrum palette, and when I was looking at it online it did look like it would be a colorful, but still a bit neutral, like the Modern Renaissance palette, only with a few cooler shades as well, but when I got it I saw that it’s much more colorful than I realized.

Now, since this is such a colorful palette, I personally have to pull in other neutral shades/other palettes when I use this, because I feel like it would be a bit too bright for my taste if I didn’t pull in at least one or two brown/neutral shades to tone it down a little, so that is something to keep in mind if you’re interested in this, but I usually do that anyway, so it’s not that big of a deal to me.

With that said, however, I do find that this is a good, highly pigmented palette.
I also find that the shades are, surprisingly, easy to work with. They blend out well, but they don’t blend away, they’re also very easy to build up, so you can get very bright/vibrant looks out of it with barely any effort at all, so I do think that this is a good palette for what it is.
I also like that the shades are more on the wearable side, and not like, for example the Urban Decay Electric Palette (I don’t own it, I’ve only seen photos/videos), which looks quite neon, while this is more toned down, and it isn’t as intimidating, at least not to me.

So, over all I do think that this will be a good palette for those of you who’d like to wear some pops of colors, but who doesn’t want those pops to be overly neon and bright, and if you know that you’d use the majority of the colors.
Because if you know you’d just wear only a few, or even half of them, I’d rather recommend that you found those shades in singles, because this palette is a bit up there in price, and since it’s not really a stand alone palette, I don’t think that this would be worth it for everyone.

I got mine from Douglas for 366nok.
