Favorites | Top 5 August 2016

It’s time for my top 5 products of the month again, and as always I will link to full reviews at the end of post.

So, my first favorite this month is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer.
Now, if you saw my review on this you’d know that I didn’t really think it was worth the hype, because it did get a bit dry on my undereyes, and it didn’t really cover any of my blemishes that well, and I still think that it’s overhyped, but I have started using a richer eye cream, and that does help with the dryness so it’s not as bad.
And even though I still have a love-hate relationship with this concealer, I have been reaching for it a lot this month.

My second favorite this month is the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade.
For some reason I find that my brows look a lot softer when I use a pomade rather than a brow pencil, and since I have quite full brows to begin with, I find that the dipbrow works better for me when I fill in my brows, no matter if I want a soft look, or if I want a more defined brow.
And this stays in place all day without fading or smudging, so I do really love this product.

For my blush this month I’ve been loving the NYX HD Blush in the shade ‘Hamptons’.
This is more of a bright peachy-pink color when you swatch it, but once you apply it to the cheeks it gives such a beautiful, natural flush to the cheeks, and I do feel like it works with a lot of different skintones.
And this melts in to the skin so nicely, and I haven’t had any issues with it fading unevenly or looking patchy, and it’s very inexpencive, so I would recommend checking these out.

For my lips this month I’ve been using the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Pencil in the shade ‘Tiramisu’.
This is more of a peachy-brown-nude shade, and it’s a little deeper than the regular nudes you see all over the internet these days, but it’s so easy to use and the lasting power is amazing, especially for the price.
And, even though this is a wooden pencil, this is so creamy, and it glides on the lips so easily, so I definetly need more shades!

To top off the lipliner, I’ve been reaching for my MAC lipstick in the shade ‘Fast Play’ (Finish: Amplified).
Now, MAC describes this as a neutral pink shade, but on me it pulls alot more brown-nude ish, so I do think that it can pull a bit different on different skintones, but either way this is so so beautiful.
And also what I love about this is that when it ‘wears off’ throughout the day, you will still have a lot of color left on your lips, so it’s not something that you have to worry too much about, even though I always bring my lipstick with me for touch-ups.

So, what are some of your favorite products of the month? Let me know in the comments below.

Review | Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector

This is what it says on the Urban Decay website:
Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector combines all the benefits of skin treatment and protection with the coverage of a sheer foundation. This multitasking cream is the best of both worlds!

Instantly blur imperfections and even out skin tone—for beautifully perfected, ultra definition skin. (Naked Skin One & Done gets the job done so well, there’s no need for foundation.) Our high-tech, weightless formula provides all-day wear and feels amazing. But the best part is how it transforms the look of your skin! Light-diffusing spheres instantly help make flaws seem to disappear. Over time, pores look smaller and skin appears noticeably firmer and more radiant. And our broad range of easy-to-match shades covers a wide spectrum of skin tones.

So, I’ve heard alot of mixed things about this BB-cream/foundation, but I wanted to try it out for myself and see if it is worth it or not, and I actually do like this product quite a bit.
Now, I’ve read several reviews saying that it doesn’t last all day, or that it’s not covering anything, and I have to say that I disagree.
I haven’t had any issues with it not lasting all day, and even though Urban Decay says that it’s a sheer foundation, I do think that it’s more of a light-medium coverage, at least on my skin.
And I also love the fact that it does not get shiny at all, not even in my t-zone, which is great!
Of course, I do set it with a little bit of a mattifying powder like I always do, no matter what kind of foundation I use, but I always have to touch up throughout the day, and with this I don’t really have to think about it at all.
And it’s always very lightweight on the skin, so you don’t feel like you’re wearing makeup.

However, I do also have some cons to talk about with this, like the fact that I can’t layer this without making it look cakey, so if you missed a spot on your jawline or your cheek you do need to be very carefull when you apply more, so that can be a big drawback for some people.
And I also don’t think it applies nicely when I use my fingers, so you do need to use a brush or a sponge with it, and I know that some people, including myself, like to apply products like this with their fingers, so that’s something to take notice of before you buy it.

But if you don’t really have an issue with those things I’d say go for it, because it is very beautiful on the skin, an I do like it alot.

Review | NEW Estee Lauder Genuine Glow Blushing Creme For Lips And Cheeks

This is what it says on the Estee Lauder website:
Sheer, luminous, effervescent color.
Ultra-light texture, ultra natural glow. Smooths over lips and cheeks for a kiss of fresh color.
From within—from your passion, your enthusiasm, your energy. Your drive to do anything. And Genuine Glow gets your inside glow to show on the outside.

(Shade: Sweet Cheeks)

So, first of all I will say that I don’t think that this is a sheer blush, it’s easy to sheer out, but if you apply it straight from the tube you will get a lot of color payoff with this.
Now, I do prefer to apply the blush on a stippling brush and then apply it to my cheeks, so I don’t get too much product on, because it is very pigmented and it’s just easier to control the application when you use a brush instead.

And I also apply it underneath my setting powder, because it is a cream product and I do tend to get a bit oily on my cheeks, so I just think that it stays/looks better throughout the day when I set it with a translucent powder.
But I have also applied it on top of my setting powder, and it doesn’t look weird, or patchy if you do that either, so it’s just a matter of how you prefer to use it.

With that said, I do think that this is a very beautiful, natural looking product, and it is very easy to use, even for beginners.
Also, it does last all day on my skin, however it does start to fade a little by the 10 hour mark, but I can’t really complain at that point, and when it first starts to fade it fades evenly, so it’s not really something you’ll notice too much anyway.

Lastly I have to say that this is only available in two different shades, so you don’t get alot of opptions whit this, which is sad, but I still think it’s worth checking out.

Review | NEW Bobbi Brown Instant Confidence Stick

This is what it says on the Bobbi Brown Website:
Bobbi’s magic eraser—instantly blurs the look of fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother, more lineless look. The colorless, breathable and ultra-lightweight formula glides on easily and feels weightless, making it comfortable for all-day wear. Use it to prep skin for seamless makeup application, or to touch up and control shine throughout the day.
Infused with a powerful peptide, the formula helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as soon as you apply. A unique triple suspension complex creates an effective yet breathable blurring layer that helps to smooth and perfect skin’s texture. Plus, it works over time to absorb excess oil and control shine.
Swipe over fine lines and wrinkles before makeup and throughout the day as needed to smooth, mattify and absorb oil.

So, I’m always on the hunt for something that will help blur all my fine lines and pores, and (mostly because of the name) I figured I’d see if this is worth it.
Now, when I first got this I was very surprised with how small this really is, because I thought it would be kind of like a foundation stick size, or at least half of it, but this is more like a big concealer stick, so that’s something you should keep in mind if you’re buying this online.

Now, I have tried this underneath my eyes to see if it prevents creasing, and I have tried it on my pores to see if it would fill them in/blur them, and for underneath my eyes I don’t like this.
The reason I don’t like it for underneath my eyes is because it really does hold up to the oil-control claims, and that’s just too drying underneath my eyes, and I don’t really think it fills in/blurs my fine lines/wrinkles anyway.

However, I do love it when I use it where I have bigger pores and where I get oily, like my nose and my cheeks, because this really does help to control oils throughout the day.
And it is the only primer type product I’ve tried that actually does that, so for that I think this is fantastic, but when it comes to bluring fine lines etc, I don’t really think that this holds up to it’s claims.
Maybe if you have very, very tiny areas to blur, but for me I don’t think it’s worth it if that’s what you’re buying it for.
And it is very expencive considering how little product you get, so I’m a bit torn with this.
But since it is the only product I’ve tried that helps with my oils, I do think it’s worth checking out, but I would recommend that you only use it on special occasions because of the price.

I got mine from Kicks for 370nok.
