Favorites | Top 5 June 2016

It’s time for my monthly favorites again, and as always I will have a link to the full review, if I have done one previously, at the end of the post.

To start off with I wanted to talk about my new favourite sunscreen for the face.
This one from Clinique is so thin and lightweight, and it doesn’t ball up or crumble like alot of other sunscreens does.
And it’s also light enough to use underneath your eyes without stinging or making them water, so if you’ve had that issue with other sunscreens I’d recommend you try this one.
Now, the one thing that may be an issue with this is that it does leave a whitecast on my skin, but it’s nothing you’ll notice once you apply your makeup on top, but it’s still something to keep in mind.

This month I’ve also been pulling out my Bobbi Brown corrector alot, because, for some reason, I haven’t gotten enough sleep, so I’ve been loving this for neutralizing my dark circles and making me look more awake and put together.

To set this I’ve been using my Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder.
I think this powder is so beautiful on the skin, and it just gives you that little extra brightness, and it sets my concealer without making my undereyes looking dry.
Now, I will say that you have to be carefull with it, because if you use too too much you can end up with a whitecast underneath your eyes, but if you use it sparingly it will look beautiful.

Now, for the rest of my face I haven’t really been doing much, but I have been using the Benefit POREfessional every time I’ve been wearing makeup.
And, even though I do like it, and it does help to fill in my pores, making them less noticable, I have to mention that I’m not as impressed with this as I first thought I would be.
But it still does what it’s supposed to be, and I have been loving it this month.

Lastly I wanted to mention the Smashbox Photo Filter Powder Foundation.
Now, I find this to be very lightweight and it doesn’t look cakey on me at all, but I’ve been using it as a setting powder on top of my foundation, or BB cream, instead of actually using it as a powder foundation, and for me it works really well.
And you can also build it up in the areas you need a bit more coverage, so I do think this is very beautiful.

What are some of your favorite products this month?

Review | Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream

Smashbox BB Cream

This is what it says on the Smashbox website:
Your go-to for flawless skin. Just let it BB.
So what does BB do?
PRIMES: Wear alone, or under your favorite foundation to create a smooth canvas.
PERFECTS: Tinted formula in 8 shades evens out skin for a flawless finish.
HYDRATES: Improves skin moisture in 4 weeks. Guaranteed.
PROTECTS: SPF 35 guards against UVA/UVB rays.
CONTROLS OIL: Minimizes shine with no chalky finish.
Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Pthalates, Oil, Fragrance & Talc.

Since the summer has finally arrived I’ve been wanting to use more lightweight makeup than I usually do, so I figured I’d give this a go and see how it went, and so far I think this is great.
It is very lightweight, like a BB cream should be, but this does also provide enough coverage to even out my skintone, and cover most of my imperfections.
But what I like most about this is that it doesn’t feel greasy like most other BB cream type products I’ve tried before, and at the same time it doesn’t look dry. (I would say it has a natural finish)

Now, I did try to use it on it’s own, with no primer or powder, and it did start to get a bit shiny in my t-zone after about 3-4 hours, and I also noticed that it did fade on my forehead, so I would say that you do need to set it with a powder, or a settingspray, but once I did that it lasted all day, it didn’t look shiny before the 6-7 hour mark, and it didn’t settle into any lines or pores, so I do have to say that this holds up to it’s claims quite well.
And I do like that it has an SPF of 35 in it, even though I do wear a sunscreen underneath it as well.

Other than that I do think that it applies nicely with your fingers, but it’s also easy to apply with a sponge (I haven’t tried it with a brush).
It’s easy to blend out, and you can also build it up a little if you have any areas that you feel like you need a bit more coverage.
So I do think that this is worth the money if you’re looking for something easy and lightweight to throw on in the summer months.

I got mine from Kicks for 280nok.

Review | Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipglosses

abh lipglosses

This is what it says on the Anastasia website:
An opaque, high-shine lip color. Use Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss’ flat sponge-tip applicator to deliver intense pigment with precision for an expert finish in a single swipe.

So, first of all I want to mention that I got these in a limited edition set, but all of these shades are available on the Anastasia website.

I got 8 shades, 3 creams and 5 metallics, and I have to say that I’m not that impressed with the more cream finishes.
Out of the three only one of them (Socialite) went on smoothly and very opaque, the other two (Dainty & Black Cherry) went on very patchy and uneven, even though they were quite opaque as well, they just didn’t blend nicely on my lips and I did try to use them on top of other lip products, but I just can’t get them to work.
And I just expected them to be a little bit better than they were.
But as far as the metallics go I didn’t have an issuse with any of them, except for ‘Weekend Barbie’ and ‘Date Night’, they went on a bit too thick on the outside rim of my lips, but they were easy enough to blend out so I wouldn’t say that it’s too bad.

Now when it comes to the formula of these, I find that they are all very comfortable to wear, and none of them are sticky at all.
I also find that they are very pigmented, even the more sheer ones, and I didn’t feel the need to re-apply for a good 3-4 hours, so I do think that these are worth the hype.

The only thing is that the metallics do contain alot of tiny glitter, not that you can feel it, but when it wears off you do have a lot of sparckle on your lips, and that may not be for everyone.
But other than that I do think that these are great, and I would recommend them if you are looking for a good, comfortable gloss.

I got mine from Kicks for 495nok (for the limited edition set), but you can get the indivdual shades on the ABH website for 16$ a piece.

Review | Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse

This is what it says on the Vita Liberata website:
Super fast drying tanning mousse with pHenO2 Technology for the longest lasting, natural-looking tan result with instant colour and a tan that develops over 4-8 hours that lasts up to 2-3 weeks, with a perfect fade every time.
Odour Remove™ Technology for zero self-tan smell, moisture Locking System for 72 hour skin hydration.
Formulated with certified organic botanicals.

I haven’t really been much of a selftanner before this year, so I’ve been trying out a few different ones and once I read about this I just had to try it.
I mean, the claims on this sounded so amazing to me and since my other selftanner only lasts on my skin for 4-7 days I was so excited for this!

In preperation while I was waiting for this to arrive I scrubbed my skin regularly, moisturiezed and did all the things I had to do so that I could apply this the second I got it, and than I tried it only to be dissappointed.
Now the first thing, and this is kind of my own fault since I didn’t read the directions of use before I got the product, they say on both the box and the website (which I clearly didn’t read) that you should apply it 3 times to get the longest lasting tan. And on the box it also says that you should let it develoup for 6-24 hours, which is longer than it says on the website.
So that is something to keep in mind if you have a busy lifestyle.

Anyway, I did follow the directions on the box and applied it 3 times (I left each application on for 10-18hours), and unfortunatly I do think you have to do that, not only to get the longest lasting tan but also to actually get the colorpayment out of it. It may be better with the darkest shade, but with medium (and I would think the light one too) I didn’t see that much color before my third application.

With this said, this does give a very beatiful, golden bronze color to the skin once you got it on, and it does dry on contact just as it claims, so that’s good, but sadly that’s the only claim I think it holds up to.
Because no matter how I’ve tried this, it doesn’t last for more than 4 days tops, and this sure as h*ll don’t fade perfectly, at least not on me.
And even though it didn’t last as long as it says, I at least thought it would fade better than it did, so I am over all quite dissappointed with this.
And I also find this to smell quite a lot, so.

Lastly I just want to mention that this may work perfectly for you, and if it does that’s great, but I just can’t recommend this at all.

I got mine from Kicks for 489nok.

Favorites | Top 5 May 2016

To be honest I haven’t been wearing that much make-up this month, but when I have these are the products I’ve been reaching for. And as usual, if I have done a review previously, I will have the link at the end of the post.

So to start with I wanted to talk about my new favorite eyebrow pencil. This is by the brand Studio 10 and I got this in a Glossybox. Now when I first tried this I didn’t really like it, but then I tried it again and I love this. I will say that it is very creamy, and I know that alot of people prefer more of a wax texture, but I don’t really care about the texture as long as it’s easy to apply, stays in place and matches me, and this does all of that. However, I haven’t really tried the highlight side, so I don’t know how that works, and it is a ‘universal’ shade (a midtoned/dark, slightly ashy brown), but I would recommend checking it out.

An other product I got in a Glossybox is the Elisabeth Mott Thank Me Later eyeshadow primer. I’m not really one to reach for eyeshadow primers, just because I don’t really have an issue with my shadows creasing or wearing off, and I haven’t really seen a difference when I’ve used one previously, but with this one I do. This just makes my eyelids look so smooth, it fills in every crease/wrinkle I might have, and I do think it enhances the wear time slightly. Now, this is very thick, and slightly tinted (pale pink/white), but once you blend it out you can’t really see it. However, if you have a deeper skintone it might be more noticable.

On to the faceproducts. I have two of those this month and the first one is the Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in the shade ‘Sun-Kissed’. Now I find this to be the perfect bronzer. This is so smooth, easy to blend, long lasting and sheer/buildable, which is perfect since we don’t want to go in with too much bronzer. I don’t really have much more to say about this, but go check it out if you haven’t already!

Now my second ‘face-favorite’ is the Mary-Lou Manizer by TheBalm. I actually just got this 3-4 weeks ago, but this is so beautiful and intense that I can’t stop wearing it! I love using this as a highlighter (obviously), but this is also perfect as an all-over eyeshadow, or in the inner corner just to look a bit more awake. Now, I’m sure everyone’s allready got this in their collection, so I won’t ramble on about it, but this is simply the perfect highlight! Hehe.

My last favorite of the month is the MAC lipstick in the shade ‘Craving’. This is described as a burst of plum, and I do agree with that. It’s kinda like the summer-fall, medium/’dark’, plummy transition type of lipstick, but I think it’s a fun alternative to your typical bright pinks. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the brighter pinks as well, but I just felt like changing it up a bit with my lipcolor this month. Also, this does last for a very long time on the lips, and it is the amplified formula so it doesn’t dry out your lips at all.

So, what are your favorite products of the month? Let me know in the comments, and I’d love to hear from you.
